Dr. Comes has experience working across inpatient, outpatient, and specialist settings within the NHS, supporting individuals with a wide range of psychological difficulties, from anxiety and depression to more complex and longstanding presentations.
She works with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, and self-esteem difficulties, as well as challenges related to food, eating, or body image. This may include patterns of overthinking, self-doubt, or feeling “not good enough,” as well as difficulties with control, restriction, or preoccupation around food and body image. She also supports individuals navigating life transitions, interpersonal difficulties, and high levels of internal pressure.
You may find yourself overthinking situations long after they have passed, second-guessing your decisions, or being overly critical of yourself despite your efforts. There may be a persistent sense of not feeling “good enough,” or doubting whether you are meeting your own or others’ expectations, even when you are managing the demands of daily life. Others may not be aware of the extent of how difficult things feel internally.
Dr. Comes’ sessions offer a structured and supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in depth. The work focuses on helping you make sense of why these patterns may have developed and how they continue to be maintained over time. Together, you will work towards gradually shifting these patterns in a way that feels practical, manageable, and focused on creating meaningful progress, while also building a more balanced and compassionate way of relating to yourself.
She draws on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), depending on each client’s needs and goals.
Having grown up in Hong Kong and lived abroad, Dr. Comes brings an understanding of the pressures associated with high-achieving environments, including academic, professional, and cultural expectations. She works with both adults and adolescents, including those adjusting to international school settings, relocation, or transitions into university.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Comes has experience supervising therapists, delivering corporate workshops, and contributing to service and business development.
Dr. Comes is an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a registered member of the Hong Kong Psychological Society.
Dr. Comes offers therapy in both English and French.
