Teresa is a UK-trained specialist who has worked one-to-one with clients in the field of clinical mental health since 2011. Born and raised in the UK, she qualified as an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) practitioner and spent 8 years working within the National Health Service (NHS) before relocating to Hong Kong in 2018.

A native English speaker who also communicates in Cantonese, Teresa holds an undergraduate and master’s degree in Psychology, alongside postgraduate training specialising in CBT. Prior to her move, she established her career in the UK’s public health sector, supporting psychology teams across London, Surrey, and Hampshire.

With experience in both public and private healthcare, Teresa supports clients facing challenges such as:

  • Anxiety & Stress
  • Depression & Low Mood
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Social & Performance Anxiety
  • Panic Attacks & Health Anxiety
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Specific Phobias
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & Complex Trauma
  • Anger management
  • Sleep Problems & Insomnia

She works with individuals aged 17+, helping them navigate life transitions, relational difficulties, or social disconnectedness. Teresa also supports clients in building communication skills, self-esteem, and refining personal or professional growth for those seeking to enhance performance.

Teresa has a particular interest in anxiety rooted in trauma and is committed towards helping clients overcome feelings of “stuckness” or stagnation by identifying emotional roadblocks and nurturing resilience. She’s also developed an interest in generational trauma research and understanding how past experiences can cause a ripple effect from one generation to the next, implicating the way we parent, the way we interact, and influencing our core beliefs about ourselves and the world around us.

Having spent much of her formative years moving between countries and living apart from family, Teresa brings a nuanced perspective on cultural identity issues, feelings of rootlessness and belonging, to her practice. Navigating different cultures has shaped her own identity as well as influenced her approach to therapy, with an emphasis on building connection and creating a safe space that honours individual experiences.

She uses an integrated approach to tailor her work with each client, drawing on evidence-based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). She also has expertise in offering Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT).

Ultimately, Teresa aims to work collaboratively with clients, equipping them with the skills and confidence to navigate fears and insecurities, while empowering them to recognise and harness their strengths. Focus is placed on both the attainment of practical coping skills, together with addressing the root causes of a problem where necessary.

Beyond one-on-one therapy, Teresa has experience as a group facilitator, delivering psychoeducational workshops for those seeking change in a shared setting.
